What our customers have to say...
"Folks, thank you very much for that Complete Gardening Course with Klaus Laitenberger on 10 and 11 May. It was a very enjoyable experience from which I learned a great deal. While I had heard about "lazy beds" before, I had never made one and I can see already how I am going to plant my potatoes next year. I also have some great ideas for what I will sow and plant this summer and, thanks to the encouragement of Klaus, I have far less anxiety about "getting it right" than I had previously. Klaus seems to know everything anyone could need to know about growing fruit and vegetables but he bears that knowledge lightly and presents everything in such a relaxed, modest and entertaining way that it encourages people to try things out - and what harm if we don't get 100 per cent success with everything we try. I hope to go back in September for a follow up course but, if that's sold out already, I will be watching to see what I might be able to do next year. By the way, I should mention that the facilities, coffees and the delicious lunches added a lot to the course. Overall, a great experience."
Tom Gormley Good evening all. Just to say a huge thank you for organizing such a fantastic 2 day course. Isn’t Klaus just brilliant. His knowledge of everything horticultural, and his delivery in such an,interesting, thought provoking way makes it look so easy. His Irish wit is just brilliant , made all the funnier by his Germanic lilt. Alison had suggested that I give an honest opinion of course and what would / should be done differently. So here goes. 1. Your venue is just brilliant. It is the perfect size for 10-12 participants. 2. 2 day course is just right. I like the Friday / Saturday. I think over two weekends might lose momentum. 3. The course content was excellent. From lecture to hands on. 4. Compost making part .v good 5. Crop rotation v good. 6. Lazy beds v good. 7. Fruit trees info v good. 8. Mark’s added value to various topics were very informative 9. Julian was also brilliant and has a great practical knowledge, ( a future Klaus) Eddie Collins At the start of the summer I attended the wonderful Cottage Market in Newbridge Town Hall and struck up a very interesting conversation about beef farming with Mark of Featherfield Farm based in Lullymore, Rathangan. We discussed the Dexter breed, which originated in Ireland; organic farming, animal husbandry and welfare. All the while explaining to Mark that I was trying to reduce our families meat consumption! ;) I happily filled out a competition form with the possibility of winning a joint of their Organic Dexter Round Roast. Well happy days, I won! It was brought on our family holiday. What can I say? The beef was absolutely delicious, I have never tasted beef so tender and tasty. There was talk of leftovers to be used in sandwiches for our beach picnic, eh sorry, no leftovers! While I am trying to reduce meat consumption for our household, I would prefer that when I do choose to eat beef I would like it to be of the high quality meat that has been organically farmed and endured the highest of animal welfare standards that Mark has made sure of for his Dexter cattle at Featherfield Farm. - Elizabeth Bartholomew, Newbridge, Co Kildare (Aug 2017) We recently visited mark and Alison's farm in order to view their set-up before purchasing some organic beef from them. In all our years of being involved with animals we have never seen such love, care and attention to detail with livestock. The herd roam free over high quality grazing land and through native forest where they forage on wild flowers and shrubs - we were left in no doubt that you could not source better quality meat. We purchased a quarter Dexter cow that was to do our small family 8-12 months. Amusingly it has gone so quickly and we have just placed our second order - such was the nature of how much we enjoyed the meat. Happy and healthy eating!!! - Kealan, Geraldine & family, Ballinascorney, Co Dublin (Mar 2017) I recently purchased a quarter of a Dexter cow from Mark Hurst. Put simply the beef was of the highest quality, tender and tasted amazing. The organic nature of Mark’s farming methods no doubt contributes to the taste and flavour. All of the beef was vacuum packed, labelled and extremely well presented. I would not hesitate to recommend this product to anyone. - P & L Manning, Clane, Co Kildare (Mar 2017) I bought a quarter beef from Featherfield Farm. I’m completely satisfied with my purchase. The meat is tender and delicious. I love the convenience of having organic food at hand in my freezer. - D. Byrne, Athy, Co Kildare (Mar 2017) |
